We decided to splurge on the London Eye. It was an expensive 30 minutes. We’d originally hoped/planned to ride it near sunset just so I could get what I hoped would be some killer images of the city. But the pressures of visiting London for 48 hours quickly forced us to adapt our plans, and we hopped on around 5PM.
The kids were great on the Eye and really seemed to enjoy the ride, at least I thought. On the way down, I noticed my son, looking pretty worn out. It was starting to get close to dinner time, and we’d already traveled from Edinburgh by train, checked into our hotel, and started exploring London on foot and by subway. It was no wonder he was a bit tired.
And then I noticed that I could frame Big Ben in the circle graphic on the side of the Eye. Then the image becomes about a young boy, jaded and tired of sight seeing that even here, above Big Ben, the Thames, Parliament and all the rest of London, he wasn’t excited. Dinner, and a visit to the Harrods toy department help to re-energize him.
